A Fine Mahogany Grand Daughter Clock By Elliott Double Chimes Superb Quality

A fine quality double chiming Grand Daughter clock by the London makers Elliott (circa mid 20thC). A solid mahogany case on ogee bracket feet, a stepped base with a slender trunk, stepped hood with arched top and glass door, the hood corners are stepped and shaped.

The face consists of a brass back plate with an engraved center, a silvered Tempus Fugit emblem, decorative brass spandrels to dial corners and top, a silvered brass dial chapter, engraved with numerals and outer numbers, finished with a pair of blued steel Elliott hands. The Elliott eight-day musical movement is in super condition, a chiming movement with a choice of Westminster or Whittington chimes, both sound very good(eight hammers on corresponding brass rods). This movement operates with a platform escapement (French 7 jewels) - Professionally serviced July 2024 and is operating perfectly. This clock is fitted with the scarce automatic chime shut off(limited models), chimes are silenced between the hours of 11.00pm and 7.00am or can be silenced completely via a lever to the outside of number 3. 152cm (5ft) tall and 29cm wide.
