A Stunning Longcase Clock, George III Circular Dial'Tho's Bradley of Ilkeston

THOMAS BRADLEY of ILKERSTON (ILKESTON)- Lofthouse Antiques, Abbots Bromley. This is an excellent example of a George III 30-hr painted 12 round-dial clock. The face has a tasteful emblem of a rose, and both Roman and Arabic numerals. The sad mouth calendar is in working order and has fine hands. The movement is in good condition and keeps good time.

It strikes to a bell on the hour. The case, which is in excellent condition, is in medium oak and has a beautifully-aged patina. The hood has a break arch with a central eagle finial.

It is supported on quarter reeded columns with brass cappings. The plain trunk also has quarter reeded columns. The door has a brass escutcheon, and a working lock and key (not original). Thomas Bradley is recorded as working in Ilkeston between 1760 and 1815.
