It strikes to a bell on the hour. The case, which is in excellent condition, is in medium oak and has a beautifully-aged patina. The hood has a break arch with a central eagle finial.
It is supported on quarter reeded columns with brass cappings. The plain trunk also has quarter reeded columns. The door has a brass escutcheon, and a working lock and key (not original). Thomas Bradley is recorded as working in Ilkeston between 1760 and 1815.
