Joseph Austin is a listed London clock maker of some note, this clock dating to about 1740 (as assessed by Mike Whetton - clock expert). It is housed in a plain medium oak case, and is in excellent restored condition.
The 12 brass face has a silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals. It has a silvered seconds dial, and a working date aperture. In addition, there is a silvered strike/silent dial (used to stop the clock from striking).

It strikes the hours on a bell. The hood has reeded columns with brass cappings, glazed windows to the sides, and three brass finials.
