Attractive French Victorian Brass Four Glass Japy Freres Clock ca. The company was founded by Frédéric Japy q. They became one of the major manufacturers of clock movements supplied to the French clockmaking industry, particularly for clocks housed in black Belgian slate cases in the second half of the nineteenth century. They were also major producers of carriage and four glass and fancy marble and decorative clocks. THE DIAL : 96% mint, the clock dial measures 11 cm across. The brass dial plate is original to the movement. The dial with wide chapter-ring with Roman numerals for the hours.

The clock runs for a full 8-days between windings. This is a typical high quality French movement with four pillars riveted to the top plate and held in place by pins to the lower plate. THE CASE : 95%, the four glass case case stands 32 cm high and 15.5 cm across and a depth of ca. The case with glass panels fixed on three sides. The front door is hinged and in good order.
