C17th Walnut 30 Hour Longcase clock by eminent maker John Ebsworth London c1690
Rare 17th Century Small Walnut Longcase Clock 30 Hour movement, signed John Ebsworth London c1690. I have been collecting antique clocks for over 40 years, and now in retirement I have decided to thin down my collection creating an opportunity for others to become custdians for future generations. The movement is an original rare and sought after 10 square dial lantern clock, fitted to a 50 year old master craftsman produced replica case matched to the period and of correct construction. Original 30 Hour time and countwheel hour strike movement. Dial matted centre, silvered chapter ring, single cast hand, rare fat cherub spandrels. Dimensions: Height 72" x Max Width 15.25" x Depth 9.5. Serviced by Geoff Cox of Early clocks and light use since. John Ebsworth is a famous early clockmaker and his work commands a premium. A brief summary is that Ebsworth was Master of the Clockmakers Company 1697, and his clocks appear in the Royal Collection and V&A museum. In the current market 30 Hour single hand clocks are extremely rare and popular.
