Early Petite Antique Oak Longcase Grandfather Clock
It is difficult to convey through photographs the wonderful patina of the oak which can only be gained through age. The clock is 30 hour and has a lovely painted dial which is in original condition. If we start with the hood this is finished with a pretty swan neck pediment and three gilded finials. The hood door is flanked by two full turned full columns which terminate in brass capitals. Moving down to the trunk, the door is full length and shaped to the top. The base is raised on a plinth. The dial is delicately painted with flowers to the corners and a little historic building to the centre. The movement is 30 hour duration. The clock is complete with it's pendulum which is lacking its feather. It does not have a weight or a bell to the movement. The movement is dirty but goes with pressure to the great wheel. The approximate dimensions of the case are: - 79.25 inches high to top of clock / 81.75 inches high to top of finial. 19.25 inches wide across the widest part of the hood.
13.5 inches across the trunk - 18.5 inches wide across the plinth. The clock is in nice condition as can be seen from the photographs, some minor restoration could be carried out according to personal taste.
The dial is in lovely original condition, with some fading. The left finial is lacking its stem.
