Thomas Pearson Berwick Late 18th C Oak Painted Dial Longcase Clock Moonphase

A late 18th century oak longcase clock with painted dial. Made by Thomas pearson of Berwick upon Tweed. Early Osborne painted dial with the early gilded gesso corner spandrels on a duck egg blue painted ground which would date the clock to around 1785. 8 day keywound movement stiking the hours. Good original polished surface of good colour and patina. Original glass in hood door. Case in good structural condition with no loose parts or losses having been restored some years ago. The dial is in original condition with the original hour and minute hands. The movement is in good working order but is a bit oily and could do with a clean.

The date and moon indicators are not currently working as they are each missing the 24 hour wheel that drives them. Otherwise complete with 2 drive weights, penulum and winding key. A very handsome clock and a good example of the period. 91" H x 21 1/2" W x 10 3/4 D. Dial 13" square and 18 1/2" high into top of arch.
